YOUR INFORMATION
Privacy & cookies
This notice explains how we use information when you visit our website, make an enquiry or arrange drainage work. Last updated: 26 September 2026.
Who is responsible?
Northwich Drain Unblocking is the trading name of Northwich Drain Unblocking Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 16955846. The company is the controller of enquiry and drainage-service records. Contact Richard Jones, Director, at services@northwichdrainunblocking.com, telephone 07794 518637, or write to our registered office: 12 Thornley Green, Lostock Gralam, Northwich, CW9 7YB. ICO registration reference: ZC162461.
Information we use
Enquiry information includes your name, contact details, postcode and description of the problem. For an agreed job we may need site and billing addresses, access instructions, quotation and authorisation records, payment records, and necessary job photographs or drain-camera footage. A landlord, agent or authorised person may supply information; where required, we explain the source when contacting you.
Providing initial enquiry information is voluntary, but without necessary details we may be unable to quote or carry out the work. Please do not send card details, identification documents, unnecessary health information or photographs of people. Explain access requirements without unnecessary medical detail.
Why we use it
For an individual requesting a quotation or service, we use necessary information to take steps at your request towards a contract or to perform it. We use limited business, agent and occupier details for our legitimate interests in arranging and delivering requested work, taking privacy impacts into account.
Tax and accounting records are kept to meet legal obligations. Other necessary job, safety, security, claims and complaints records rely on relevant legal duties or legitimate interests as appropriate. Identifiable publicity photographs and testimonials require separate optional permission. Refusing publicity does not affect the drainage service. Enquiry details are not added to a promotional mailing list and customer information is not sold.
Who receives information?
Access is limited to people who need information for the work or supporting administration. Depending on the job, this may include assigned operatives or approved subcontractors, email and hosting providers, payment and accounting providers, advisers, insurers and authorities where disclosure is lawful. Sharing is limited to what is needed.
This website is hosted by WordPress.com, provided by Automattic. Our business mailbox uses WordPress Professional Email through Titan. Email enquiries go to services@northwichdrainunblocking.com. This initial website release does not collect enquiries through a submission form. Please use telephone, email or WhatsApp.
Hosting, cookies and statistics
WordPress.com processes technical information such as IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, referring address and time of access for hosting, security and site statistics. Its services may use cookies or similar technologies, including cookies associated with signed-in WordPress.com users. We receive site statistics rather than a list identifying individual visitors.
We have not added Google Analytics, advertising pixels, online payments, customer uploads, embedded social feeds or third-party review widgets. WordPress.com’s own services still process visitor information; absence of those additional tools does not mean no information is collected.
Read Automattic’s visitor privacy notice, cookie information and tracking choices for its current practices. Your browser can block or remove cookies, although this may affect features such as signing in. Some essential provider processing cannot be disabled through a site-owner setting. Contact us about a privacy objection; we will assess it and explain the outcome. Non-essential features requiring consent must not be introduced without appropriate controls.
Overseas processing
Our services are not restricted to UK-only processing. WordPress.com states that information is stored on servers in the United States and European Union. Titan uses international service providers, including US-based infrastructure and email-security providers. Provider location lists do not mean every provider receives every message.
Automattic describes contractual transfer safeguards in its data-processing agreement guidance. Titan publishes a data-processing addendum, sub-processor list and privacy policy. These describe the providers’ arrangements, not an independent certification of our business. Contact Richard for further information about recipients and applicable safeguards or to request a copy of relevant information.
How long records are kept
| Record | Retention approach |
|---|---|
| Unsuccessful enquiries | Six months after the last meaningful contact, unless a documented complaint or other reason requires relevant records for longer. |
| Contracts and essential job records | Normally six years after completion or settlement. A documented legal, guarantee or active-claim reason may justify longer retention. Supporting images are minimised. |
| Company accounting records | Six years from the end of the last financial year to which they relate, or longer where required. |
| Publicity material | Until permission is withdrawn or no longer needed; reviewed at least every two years. Minimal permission and withdrawal evidence is retained as necessary. |
| Provider logs and backups | Automattic describes web-server logs as retained for approximately 30 days and Jetpack Stats logs for 28 days. Providers may retain other records for security, legal requirements or backup cycles as explained in their notices. This is separate from our customer-record schedule. |
Email and WhatsApp
Email links open your configured email application. WhatsApp links open a conversation with our published telephone number; you choose whether to send a message in that app. Your email provider and WhatsApp handle information under their own terms and privacy information. You can telephone instead. We use the information you send to respond and, where requested, arrange drainage services. A message is not an online booking or emergency-response service.
Your rights and complaints
Depending on the circumstances, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or transfer of your information. Where consent is used, you can withdraw it for future processing without affecting earlier lawful use. Rights are subject to applicable exceptions.
You can object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your situation, and to direct marketing at any time. Contact Richard using the details above. Rights requests are normally answered within one calendar month, subject to lawful adjustments.
You can use our complaints procedure or complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113. We do not use this website to make solely automated decisions about customers with legal or similarly significant effects.
